AWG meets emerging needs at ‘affordable price’

The AWG5200 series can capture 10Gsample/s at 16bit resolution on up to 8 channels per unit. Also included is a flexible waveform generation plug-in suite covering a range of standards and digital modulation techniques.

Dean Miles, Tektronix’ EMEA business development manager, noted: “General test users need systems which can scale, while military and government users are looking for cheaper, more flexible COTS solutions.” He contended that traditional test and measurement equipment has been left behind as new standards are emerging rapidly. “And, for mil/gov applications, existing solutions lack fidelity and precision, while custom solutions are expensive and slow.”

The AWG5200 series features a proprietary D/A converters that offers a mix of speed and resolution. Other features of the device include a bandwidth of 2GHz and a memory of 2Gsample/channel. “It offers the best combination of sampling rate and vertical resolution currently available,” Miles noted. The unit can also generate signals of up to 8GHz directly.

The AWG5200 is available in 2, 4 and 8channel variants and supports multi unit synchronisation.
