Infineon makes ‘good start’ to 2017 FY

Despite Dr Ploss’ contention of a ‘good start’, revenue for the quarter fell by 2% to €1.645billion, compared to the previous quarter of Infineon’s financial year. Nevertheless, revenue was 6% more than in the same quarter of 2015.

Automotive electronics revenues rose by 2% over the previous quarter to €705million, representing 43% of what Infineon terms its ‘segment’ revenues. However, on a year to year basis, automotive revenues grew by 15%. While industrial power control sales declined by 5% quarter to quarter, the segment saw a 6% increase on a year to year basis.

“We expect to achieve further growth in our markets during the coming months and, based on the long term trends, also remain optimistic about the future,” Dr Ploss added.
