SAN FRANCISCO—LSI Corp. Tuesday (July 17) appointed Greg Huff to the position of chief technology officer (CTO) as one of three promotions of company executives.
Huff joined LSI in May 2011 as chief strategy officer. The promotion to CTO, a role that LSI did not have previously, was an evolution of the chief strategy officer office and recognition of the work Huff has been doing, according to a company spokesman.
Prior to joining LSI, Huff was CTO of Hewlett-Packard Co.'s Industry Standard Server business, was responsible for the technical strategy of HP’s ProLiant servers, BladeSystem family products and its infrastructure software business. Prior to that, he served as research and development director for the HP Superdome product family.
As CTO, Huff will oversee LSI's corporate strategy and technology roadmaps, LSI said. He will report directly to Abhi Talwalkar, LSI's president and CEO.
LSI (Milpitas, Calif.) also announced the promotions of two veteran company executives. Phil Brace, formerly senior vice president and general manager of LSI’s Storage Peripherals Division, was promoted to the role of executive vice president of the company's newly formed Storage Solutions Group. In this role, Brace is responsible for driving LSI's overall focus on enterprise and client storage technologies and assume overall management for hard disk drive products, the company said.
Sudhakar Sabada, formerly senior vice president and general manager of LSI's Custom Solutions Division, was promoted to executive vice president of the company's new Operations and Central Engineering group. Sabada is charged with leading LSI's worldwide manufacturing operations and supplier relationships as well as foundational research and development, including foundry process technology, IP, product engineering and design for manufacturing, according to the company.
