EBV announces comms devices in full production

Also in full production is Janus, a 6LowPAN based mesh networking device. Targeted at home automation, building automation, smart lighting and general IoT applications, the 15 x 14mm part features an STM32F0 MCU and the SPIRIT1 low power sub GHz transceiver. With IPv6 compliancy, it supports star and mesh topologies and network auto configuration by neighbour discovery.

According to the company, it is now working on Heracles; an M2M cellular module with a one time prepaid data package. Dr Eckhart Voskamp, pictured, director of Product Innovations, said the data package approach – developed in conjunction with Orange – will allow users to send data across most European countries for up to five years without further payment. This part is planned to enter production early in 2017.

EBV has also merged its EBVchips and EBV solutions divisions into a new organisation called EBV Product Innovations. However, the established brand names will be retained.

According to Dr Voskamp: “By combining these forces, and especially the know how, we will be able to enhance and improve both programmes. Using the synergy of both will enable us to help our customers to find the right solution and bring products to market more quickly.”
