STMicroelectronics has introduced the three-axis linear accelerometer AIS2IH, which has higher resolution, temperature stability and mechanical stability, and can be used for non-security automotive applications, including anti-theft, telematics, infotainment, tilt/tilt measurement and Vehicle navigation. The product has five different working modes, including a high-performance mode (HPM) and four low-power modes (LPM), which can be switched anytime and anywhere to optimize the resolution and power consumption to meet the exact application requirements .
AIS2IH can provide high-performance motion sensing in the operating temperature range of minus 40°C to 115°C. The compact LGA-12 land grid array package is used to achieve ultra-low power consumption. In addition, AIS2IH has user-selectable full scales of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, and ±16g, and can measure acceleration at an output data rate (ODR) from 1.6Hz to 1.6kHz, with embedded configurable digital low-pass And high-pass filter. When running in high-performance mode, its typical noise density is 90μg/√Hz. At a frequency of 1.6V, the HPM's 3V operating current is 110μA, and the LPM's operating current is 0.67μA. Embedded 32-level FIFO and motion and activity detection functions can keep system-level power consumption at a low level.
Thanks to its high performance, AIS2IH can be applied to emerging automotive applications such as digital driving recorders, driver monitoring, vertical level sensors in vehicle suspensions, and door automation. It is also suitable for industrial IoT (IIoT) applications that require ultra-low power consumption, compact size, high resolution, and high reliability, such as sensitive medical applications such as 5G smart antennas and pacemakers.
AIS2IH has now passed AEC-Q100 certification, using a 2mm x 2mm LGA package with wettable sides, and samples have been produced.
