MaxTouch® MXT336UD-MAUHA1 Capacitive Touchscreen Controller
In order to reduce the risk of house fires and floods, the Europe IEC 60730 and American UL 60730 class B specification require to install security equipment on the household applications (such as oven, stove, washing machine, and dryer, etc.). Microchip Technology Inc. launched the MaxTouch® MXT336UD-MAUHA1 capacitive touch screen controller family is ideal to help designers meet the capabilities security demand of touchscreen devices.
This new series is the only touch controller on the market that provides pre-certified Class B firmware. It includes three controllers, MXT112UD-MAUHA1, MXT228UD-MAUHA1, and MXT336UD-MAUHA1, each satisfies the demand of different size screen from 2 inches to 8 inches.
Fanie Duvenhage, vice president of Microchip’s human-machine interface business unit said the series of MXT336UD-MAUHA1 touch controller is already certified for these security standards that required. Integrated the class B certification on these touch controllers can simplify the process of the touch device design and certification
The touch controller certified for class B
a. Provides a unique security-related function, which allows the system to shut off by an intuitive soft button on the touch screen, instead of through an external security-certified stop or cancel button and associated microcontroller.
b. Allows the device to detect the touchscreen or equipment failure and shut off the device through various self-testing capabilities.
The new family also features a high signal to noise ratio (SNR) design and a proprietary differential mutual acquisition scheme. It allows the machine to reliably detect and track multiple fingers on surfaces exposed to moisture, water, and grease, etc., even though the user is wearing gloves. To meet the demand of OEMs to reduce cost and improve time to market, the MXT336UD-MAUHA1 family transfers the required security capabilities to a simplifying single touchscreen interface.
