TechUK joins Electric Vehicle Energy Taskforce Steering Board

The Taskforce, for which the LowCVP will provide secretariat functions, is chaired by Phil New, Chief Executive of the Energy Systems Catapult and was announced yesterday by the Secretary of State for Transport, Chris Grayling. It is part of a package of measures which were announced at yesterday’s Zero Emission Summit.

The Taskforce aims to ensure that costs and emissions are as low as possible, and opportunities for vehicles to provide grid services are capitalised upon for the benefit of the system, energy bill payers and EV owners.

Matthew Evans, Head of techUK's Smart Infrastructure Programme, said: “Data is at the heart of ensuring that we deliver consumer-centred charging infrastructure which facilitates the widespread adoption of EVs, at the lowest possible cost.

“The tech sector already plays a leading role in driving down our emissions and we look forward to working with our partners in the energy and automotive sector to ensuring the UK is able to exceed its targets around electric vehicles and progress faster down the road to zero."
