Humanoid robots to come to life at the Engineering Design Show

RoboThespian is a life sized humanoid robot designed for human interaction in public environments. After more than six years of continuous development, it is fully interactive, multilingual, and user-friendly, making it capable of communication and entertainment.

The Socibot is a compact, sociable robot, designed for human-robot interaction in a more intimate setting. Socibot contains all the processing power of RoboThespian, compressed into a stand-alone kiosk or desktop device.

The power of Socibot lies in its sociable qualities - the ability to detect faces, features, emotions, speech and gestures. It also makes use of projective technology coupled with facial generation via parametric meshes to bring any character or image to life, in full 3D form.

Both robots have pre-programmed content on them, and they can also be operated through a telepresence system anywhere in the world. You can see the robots in action in this video.

The Robothespian and Socibot will be located in the Innovation Zone on stand B2 at the Engineering Design Show.
